Fort de Chartres

As seen from the highway, north of the compound.

As seen from the back parking lot entrance,
looking NE.

Above is one of the foundations from barracks,
etc. This view is from the S looking N.
A few of the smaller "wells" were
quite deep, and are believed to be storage
cellar.
Picture below (contributed by Ray Smith) is taken from the N looking S, of the same
foundation.

The restored powder magazine, the only surviving
structure of the fort.

Above, one of the cannons on display. (photo contributed by Ray Smith)
It
is fired during the re-inactments, usually
scaring people, as it is QUITE loud! On the right, the Mess Hall.

Above is officers building, now the museum
(photo contributed by Ray Smith).

Photo on left is view of a reconstructed officers room. Photo on right is
of the Chapel.
